Certificate course on foundations of predictive analytics CSE Department, IIT Hyderabad (July 17-21)
This is a 5-day intensive hands on certificate course aims to cover fundamental topics in predictive analytics using Excel miner. Participants will develop a deeper understanding of predictive analytics concepts like classification, regression, market basket analysis and clustering. This course is being conducted by CSE Department, IIT Hyderabad from July 17(Wednesday) to 21(Sunday), 2013.
IIT-JEE (Advance) Result 2013 to be declared on June 23
The results of IIT- JEE (advanced) Examination 2013 will be declared on June 23. The Joint Entrance Exam 2013 for admissions to the undergraduate programmes in all the 16 IITs as well as Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad, was conducted on June 2.
Students are waiting anxiously for their results as it will decide whether their next four years in India’s best Engineering institutes forming their choice of careers.
After the declaration of results, from June 24 , successful candidates will be required to log in and give their choices for courses offered by the 16 IITs and ISM, Dhanbad.
Around 1.5 lakh students short-listed from JEE (Main) Exam 2013 appeared in the JEE (advanced).
The answer keys for both the Paper-1 and Paper-2 are made available on the JEE (Advanced) website, so students may check out their responses meanwhile.
Students can check their answer sheets and obtained marks between 14 to 17 June on the same website. For the student’s satisfaction, JEE official also offers a provision to request for review of specific questions and its marks. This will charge Rs. 500/- for each question to be reviewed.
7 Steps to Finding the Perfect Job
Work is a way to earn a living. Work gives us independence, freedom, and increases our sense of self-worth. Yet, how often have you heard someone say “I hate my job,” or “oh no, its Monday again!” Fortunately, we can find jobs that empower us.
The perfect job is looking for you almost as much as you're looking for it. Thanks to the paradigm shift in the recruiting industry moving online, there are now a lot more job openings to choose from. Today you can find a job doing what you're best at if you focus on finding the right opportunity.
Identify your strengths and weaknesses. Think about what are you best at? Even if your best attributes you do seem small, it doesn't matter. What matters is how you market those abilities. If you aren’t sure which industry you'd like to work in, assess your education and your skills. If you have a degree in Communication and really love design, consider working as a graphic designer or a copywriter. The key is to combine all your skills and strengths to find a job you’ll be successful in.
Network. Think of people you know who work in the industry of interest. This could be family, a friend, or even a former colleague. Use all your connections. Chances are, you already know someone who knows someone who could help you.
Prepare a standout resume. Make your resume unique and sell-able. Avoid done-to-death cliches like 'problem-solving', 'creative', 'innovative' and the like. If you're looking to get into a creative industry, design your resume.
Read at least one relevant article a day. Learn as much as you can about your desired occupation. The web has countless resources that contain relevant information for every occupation and industry. You can also follow industry leaders on social media sites to stay current on the latest developments in your field of interest.
Develop a portfolio. You want to show recruiters you're well-prepared for the job and a portfolio can back that up. Like they say, the cardinal rule is to show, not tell. If you're a photographer, it should include your photos. If you're a writer, it should include articles and documents you’ve written. It can include content you’ve developed on your personal time.
Focus on your business skills. This includes communication, time management, attention to detail, etc. The little details matter a lot in business, so stay sharp. Also, if you have free time while you’re job searching, learn a new skill, volunteer your time, take a class. Be proactive in trying to improve yourself.
Show some patience. Understandably you'll be a little antsy if recruiters haven't contacted you after a while. Try to stay calm. Use your free time to hone skills and try to enjoy your downtime. And most importantly, don’t worry, good faith and hard work never bring failure.
